Blakely Rock Benefit Race

The 37th annual Sloop Tavern Yacht Club Blakely Rock Benefit Regatta will be held April 1, 2017 benefiting The Sailing Foundation. STYC raises these funds through raffle tickets or auction items, cash donations, race entry fees and breakfast tickets, and 100% of the proceeds go directly to The Sailing Foundation.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit, The Sailing Foundation is here to augment the good work currently being done by local sailing programs and organizations. They focus on youth sailing at all levels, but with a special concentration on racing, and believe that sailing, as an activity offers a unique medium for personal growth and enrichment. The joy of sailing and sailboat racing should be enjoyed by the many, not the few. The Sailing Foundation is also dedicated to promoting safe boating throughout both the commercial and pleasure boating industry through seminars and research into the development of products that enhance boating safety.  More information can be found at www.thesailingfoundation.org

This well-known regional event typically draws over 100 boats and 500-750 participants.  The day starts with a pancake and sausage breakfast at Sloop Tavern at 7am on the day of the race.  The Sloop Tavern has generously donated all of the food and volunteers from the foundation and the yacht club will be doing the cooking and serving. Tickets are available online at www.STYC.org for $10, and all proceeds go to The Sailing Foundation.

The skippers meeting will start at 9:30am, and trophy presentation and raffle will start at 7pm after the race, also at Sloop Tavern.  For a listing of some of the awesome raffle items we’re gathering please visit the STYC website event at http://www.styc.org/race_info/Blakely%20Rock%20Benefit/index.shtml.  Anyone can purchase raffle tickets (must be present to win), so come on down to the Sloop Tavern, and drop tickets in the boxes assigned to the items you’d like to take home!

To sign up for the race, purchase extra T-shirts or buy breakfast tickets, visit www.STYC.org. You can find the race instructions and current list of raffle items here as well. Also keep an eye out for a link to an Ebay store that TSF is creating to auction larger donations.

Please join us for this fun and exciting race, win some cool stuff, and support getting kids on the water and Safety at Sea at the same time!
